Strasburg Facility
Strasburg facility is a 15-acre site of outstanding design with a stunning view to mountains and valley nested near the intersection of Highways 66 and 81 in North East Virginia in the middle of the Shenandoah Valley. All areas incorporate state of the art resources in preparation for some of the world’s most sophisticated and highly computerized tissue converting lines and packaging equipment, to fully automated robot case stacking.
The plant is divided in three main areas: Raw Material Storage, Production Room and the Finished Product. Plans are to open the Distribution Center in September 2009, followed by preparation for auxiliary equipment to support the converting lines scheduled to start arriving in January to May 2010. At his phase one, the employment in the plant would be approximately 70 employees. Phase two to be happening later in 2010 would bring in an additional 40 employees with additional support teams. The employment at the end of 2010 would be nearing the 120 employee milestone.
The initial capacity would be for 3,500 metric tons per month in Phase one producing paper towel and bath tissue consumer products with another 3,500 added later in the year for a total output of 7,000 metric tons per month starting in 2011. Other production lines are expected in 2011 to increase the output to near 10,000 metric tons per month.
The Mercury Paper management is committed to integrate its operations and actively participate to the everyday life and activities of the Valley organizations as a community partner that will have a full presence in the valley.
