Maintenance Planner
DEPARTMENT |
JOB PURPOSE |
KEY ROLES |
- Reports to the Maintenance/Engineering Manager.
- Works closely with, Production Leaders, Project Leaders, Engineers, Production Schedulers and Maintenance Technicians.
- Works with Production Manager, Maintenance Supervisor, Shift Supervisors and Engineers to prioritize work and ensure maintenance resource allocation for maintenance downs.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES |
- Administer the Express Maintenance System (EM) to prioritize, plan, and schedule maintenance work efficiently while minimizing maintenance cost and equipment downtime.
- Carry out job responsibilities in a safe manner.
- Conducts periodic physical inventories.
- Ensures completed work orders are returned promptly and correctly entered into the system.
- Ensures employee safety needs are given a top priority in work planning and scheduling.
- Generates a mid-month and monthly report on part consumption for the Accounting and Production Departments.
- Generates a PO in EM for existing parts to be reordered.
- Identifies and obtains materials, tools, required permits, documentation and equipment access as required. Consults with the requester, maintenance supervisor, engineers or maintenance technicians as required.
- Store Clerk - Maintains adequate spare parts inventory for production equipment and facility maintenance in the storeroom.
- Stage work and documentation for planned maintenance work.
- Other duties as assigned.
KEY WORKING RELATIONSHIPS |
Internal:
- Plant Manager, Production Manager, Distribution leadership, Quality, Cost Accounting, Production Analyst.
External:
- Works with Outside vendors/contractors in support of maintenance activities.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES |
Education & Knowledge
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- General knowledge of machines and can identify parts.
- Machine part terminology.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Working knowledge of facilities and industrial equipment.
Skills & Abilities
- Ability to read and understand machine drawings and /or schematic diagrams.
- Accuracy with numbers and entering data.
- Attention to detail.
- Computer literacy and competency with MS Excel, Word and Outlook.
- Maintenance or maintenance planning experience preferred.
- Must be an independent self-starter.
- Organizational skills.
- Positive and professional demeanor.
- Spare parts systems and parts ordering.
- Stores clerk experience preferred.
- Strong oral and written communications skills.
- Understanding of safety requirements, practices and procedures.
- Work management processes, labor estimating, resource balancing preferred.
- Work order systems and related systems/software.
WORK ENVIRONMENT |
- Must be flexible and responsive to the needs of the department/facility/business.
- Must be able to sit, bend, stand and walk during scheduled shift.
- Must be able to safely lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
- Must be able to work 8 – 12 hour shifts.
