Machine Operator

This position reports to the Line Leader and receives indirect work direction from the Shift Leader and/or Technical Specialist. The position is responsible for the safe operation of the asset equipment and process.
 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Comply with facility safety rules.
  • Operate asset equipment safely to support and achieve customer satisfaction
  • Participate in facility and asset safety initiatives.
  • Responsible for on-shift quality checks
  • Ensure product quality meets customer requirements
  • Support the evolution of site systems and initiatives.
  • Perform operator maintenance reliability tasks to support operation team objectives.
  • Develop as the on-shift SME for designated asset area and provide training as needed.
  • Identify and correct issues with equipment and process operation
  • Ensure machines are running at Centerline specifications
  • Perform grade change activities
  • Provide input to equipment and process improvement initiatives.
  • Initiate work orders in established system.
  • Participate in annual performance reviews and one-on-one feedback.
  • Achieve mastery in operating positions as defined in the training progression chart.
  • Report sub-standard issues to the Line Leader
  • Provide operator coverage of vacancy for other teams.
  • Participate in assigned collateral duties in support of achieving a World Class Manufacturing facility
  • Other duties as assigned

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

 

Internal

  • Reports to Line Leader; performance reviews conducted by Shift Leader.

External

  • No external working relationships

 

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

 

Education and Experience Background:

  • High School Diploma/equivalent preferred and 3 years commensurate experience, required.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in reading/writing English.
  • Basic computer skills

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Technical experience with machine operation in a manufacturing environment.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to operate and understand principles of machinery

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB

  • Must be flexible and responsive to the needs of the department/ business.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Must be able to work 12 hour shifts and rotations.
  • Must be able to sit, bend, stand and walk during scheduled shift.
