Inventory Control Lead

This position ensures the count integrity and reliability of material transactions throughout all Distribution warehouses including 3PLs, as well as tracks and maintains inventory accuracy by analyzing inventory movement and work orders and researching inventory discrepancies. The position is also responsible to independently assist Distribution Manager for inventory set up and essential product and shipping/receiving knowledge training at 3PL warehouses according to company’s best practice, as well as for coordinating the annual physical inventory count for all product located in all Distribution warehouses and 3PLs.
 

1. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Review work orders and material for accuracy.
  • Perform daily cycle counts and reconcile book to floor inventories
  • Research and verify inventory discrepancies, including but not limited to inventory receipts and shipments, process document adjustments in SAP with Accounting and report findings to Distribution Manager.
  • Make adjustments, as needed upon approval from accounting and Distribution Manager.
  • Complete intercompany, buy/sell transactions.
  • Performs data entry.
  • Disassemble license plates as required.
  • Work with Production and PPIC to ensure accurate reporting and month-end closing preparations are ready.
  • Utilize SAP for reporting, inventory count sheets, buy/sell function, pull-kitting research for error tracking, warehouse moves and histories.
  • Other duties as assigned by Distribution Manager

Internal

  • Must have the ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with all levels of associates and management in our Planning Department, Distribution and Raw Materials, Accounting and Plant Operations.

External

  • No external working relationships

 

3. JOB SPECIFICATIONS

 

Education and Experience Background:

  • 3-5 years prior experience working in inventory management position with over 300+ items
  • College/Bachelor’s degree in areas of Accounting, Statistics, Business Management, logistics, or supply chain preferred
  • Experience creating Excel spreadsheets, entering data and utilizing basic formulas
  • Cycle count experience in an ABC environment
  • SAP experience preferred
  • Manufacturing or warehouse inventory control preferred
  • Experience working with production, planning and accounting preferred
  • College work may substitute for some work experience

Skills and Knowledge:

  • High degree of knowledge of and ability to reconcile inventory
  • Attention to detail, accurate and solid basic math skills
  • Thorough understanding of work order issuing, reporting of material consumption and work order as it relates to inventory transactions is a plus
  • Keyboard and typing skills
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Excel and Outlook email skills
  • Professional written, verbal and non-verbal communication
  • SAP

4. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB

  • Read, write and communicate fluently in the English language
  • Must be flexible to work hours as required and may work 3 – 11 p.m.
  • Must be able to work 8 – 12 hours per shift.
  • Must be able to sit, bend, stand and walk during scheduled shift.
  • Perform month-end closing process on weekends and holidays when closing falls
  • Readily accept new assignments as assigned by Supervisor
  • Must be flexible and responsive to the needs of the department/ business.
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds on a regular basis
  • May be required to travel to multiple locations
